Saint James 8th Grader Jared Lande has gone above and beyond helping fellow classmates and children in his age group who are struggling with their fight against cancer. Lande is teaming up with the St. Baldrick Foundation to help raise awareness and funds for cancer research and help finding better treatments and cures. Many different kinds of cancer do not discriminate against age groups and often many children become afflicted with cancer. According to studies published by the Saint Baldrick's Foundation, 20%, or 1 out of 5 childhood cancer patients will not survive.
Lande is raising money by shaving his head on Saint Patricks Day to support St. Baldrick Foundation's mission. The St. James community is also teaming up with Jared by having faculty donate $1 for dress down days. St. James faculty are also holding a Goofy Green Day where teachers dress up and students can donate a dollar to cast their vote for the most goofy and green teacher at Saint James parochial school.
The Stratford Community is also invited to help Jared and St. James School take on cancer. Anyone interested in donating to Lande's efforts should contact St. James school or the Saint Baldrick Foundation toll free at 888.899.2253.
