Mark Your Calendars: CT Open House Day in June 14

You might not have thought to make plans for June 14th just yet, but when you see the list of museums, historic sites, and other destinations around Connecticut offering free admission and special programming on that Saturday, you might want to.

Connecticut Open House Day, now in its 10th year, is coordinated by the Connecticut Office of Tourism, which describes the day's events as "a great way for you to experience all the state has to offer and to encourage you to become Connecticut Ambassadors who take pride in sharing your new discoveries with visiting family and friends."

At the time of this writing, the Hartford attractions taking part in Connecticut Open House Day are:

Amistad Center for Art & Culture at the Wadsworth Atheneum of Art

Free admission from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Celebrate Juneteenth Family Day with art, music and more for all ages.

Butler-McCook House & Garden

Free admission from noon until 4 p.m.

Connecticut Historical Society

Free admission to the museum's galleries, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Governor's Residence

Free admission from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and serving lemon ice on the outside patio along with tours of the outside sculpture garden and inside the Residence.

Harriet Beecher Stowe Center

Free admission from 9:30 a.m. with house tours, horse-drawn carriage rides and walking tours of Nook Farm. Complimentary shuttle between Nook Farm (Stowe Center and Mark Twain House & Museum) and Amistad Center at the Wadsworth Atheneum.

Hartford Artspace

Open from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. featuring residents of the building and showcasing the arts in downtown Hartford.

Hartford Stage

Free backstage tours at 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The first 100 visitors receive a $10 discount off tickets for the 2 p.m. matinee on June 14 for "Vanga, Sonia, Masha, and Spike" (use code CTOPEN10 for the performance)

Isham-Terry House

Free admission from noon until 4 p.m.

Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art

Free admission from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Enjoy art making activities, tours, live music, tours and more.

Watermark Press

From 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., offering visitors refreshments, demonstrations on printmaking, topical literature, free raffle for art supplies and/or one lesson, free mementos.
