(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that the Educators' Common Core Implementation Taskforce is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, May 7, at Cromwell High School, 1 Donald Harris Drive in Cromwell. The meeting will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and will be held in library.
The taskforce will first hear a presentation on best practices in implementing the Common Core State Standards by Dr. Dianna Roberge-Wentzell, Chief Academic Officer for the Connecticut Department of Education (CSDE). Roberge-Wentzell has been a Connecticut educator for over 25 years and has served as a high school and middle school teacher as well as in building and district leadership roles. Dianna joined the CSDE in January 2013. Immediately prior to joining the CSDE Dianna served as the Assistant Superintendent in Hartford. Following the presentation, the taskforce will continue to discuss best practices as they work towards making recommendations on improving implementation of the Standards.
Governor Malloy created the taskforce by executive order to ensure that the input of the teachers, education professionals, and parents who are directly involved in the day-to-day activities of our public school system, is included in the process of implementing the Standards. The taskforce is comprised of 25 members, including 11 teachers, four principals, four superintendents or district curriculum leaders, two parents, two local board of education members, one school counselor and the Chief Academic Officer of the Department of Education.
