Con Edison has announced a moratorium on new natural gas connections in Westchester County. Public officials fear that the development boom in the county could come to an abrupt halt.
The utility company stated on Jan. 18 that it would no longer accept applications for natural gas connections from new customers in southern Westchester, starting March 15. The company claims it needs the moratorium to ensure it can meet current demand.
Westchester Eye on the Radio will feature the New York Utility Project on 1/28/2019. The advocacy group educates the public about its legal rights as utility consumers; engages in research and advocacy; and provides legal representation for low-income utility consumers in electric, natural gas, telephone, and other utility related matters.
Richard Berkley, esq, a representative of the Utility Project, will discuss the latest developments and the impact on Westchester developers and consumers.
