Yonkers, NY – On Saturday, May 18th, 2019, at approximately 9:42PM, members of the Yonkers Police Department responded to the area of 295 Warburton Avenue on a report of shots fired with a male victim. Upon arrival officers located a crime scene and began canvassing the vicinity. The victim was located at a local area hospital with apparent gunshot wounds to his arm and chest; he was transferred to a local area trauma center where is currently listed in stable but serious condition with non-life threatening injuries. Officers cordoned off the area and initiated a criminal investigation.
Detectives from the Major Case Squad and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene, interviewing subjects and witnesses, reviewing surveillance video, and processing forensic evidence. Preliminary investigation has yielded that the victim, a 24-year-old resident of Warburton Avenue this City, was standing in front of the liquor store at 325 Warburton Avenue with a group of people. A suspect approached on foot and displayed a handgun, firing several shots in the direction of the victim, striking him at least two times; the suspect then fled the area on foot, and the victim was conveyed by a private vehicle to the hospital. Investigators believe that the victim and suspect were known to each other and this is not random event. Surveillance video has been recovered and detectives are developing information to identify the suspect and effect an arrest.
