Yonkers Library Offers New Dance Moves

The voguing class at the Yonkers Riverfront Library was a big hit.

Instructor, Eli Hibiscus guided the students through contortions, gyrations, and cool dance moves with attitude. Attendance was diverse and not strictly limited to LGBTQ members. Anyone is welcome to bust a move.

The class is not just about voguing, a highly stylized form of dance that arose from Harlem Ballroom culture. It was performed  by African American gay/trans people, from the early 1960s through the 1980s.

It is a disciplined form of movement that requires strength, flexibility and concentration.

If you are looking for exercise, strength building, cardio and a novel way of working out, this class is for you.
