Migrant Children Bussed to Yonkers

According to a Yonkers social media forum, groups of migrant children will be bussed to a Yonkers church facility located at 40 Brewster near Midland.

The building is a former school operated by St. Ann's Church, which was shuttered by the Catholic Archdiocese in 2020 for financial reasons. The church itself, however, is still in operation.

The organization which will be responsible for transport and operation is Rising Ground.  https://www.risingground.org/supporting-immigrant-children/

Rising Ground plans on a staff of 110 workers to house and maintain approximately 200 predominantly male migrant children.

The children will be kept at the facility for approximately ninety days and then reunited with their families in the United States.

Rising Group reportedly plans to operate the facility as a transit point that will bring in  new groups of children in ninety day cycles.

Neighbors state that St. Ann's did not duly inform it's parishioners.

A community meeting is planned for April 20th, 2022 to review the situation.
