Mayor Spano Drops Out of Senate Race

On January 4, 2018, Yonkers Mayor Michael Spano withdrew his candidacy for the office of Senate. The seat was vacated by George Latimer who successfully won the office of Westchester County Executive in a recent election.

Numerous candidates have thrown their hats into the ring for the 37th district seat.  Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer, a political veteran, is considered to be a leading contender.  Mayer has extensive experience in the Senate, having served as chief counsel to the US senate for seven years. 

The Yonkers native was interviewed on Westchester Eye on the Radio on December 18th, 2017.
