Black Statue Makes Pols See Red

Village of Mamaroneck political candidates are seeing red about a black statue.

Some Mamaroneck residents have complained about a Blackamoor statue on display at a local antiques shop, Den of Antiquity owned by Eliot Shapiro. A red. white and blue campaign sign for Norman Rosenblum and the Friendly Village Party sits above that statue.

Current Mamaroneck mayor, Tom Murphy says it is racist and needs to go. Opposing political candidates for mayor and Village Trustee, Norman Rosenblum, Nancy Wasserman and Stefanie Lividini say it is a political tactic without merit citing the fact that the statue stood without controversy for six weeks at the store. The election will be held on November 5th, 2019.
