Trumbull police recover stolen mail and packages

Trumbull Police say they recovered mail and packages allegedly stolen from Trumbull porches and mailboxes.

"The addresses on these items indicates that these thefts occurred town wide. Trumbull detectives have identified the owners of the stolen packages and mail and are working with the postal service to have these items delivered. The Detective Bureau is also investigating whether two persons arrested by the Shelton police for stealing packages are connected to the Trumbull thefts," said Lt. Leonard Scinto, Trumbull police spokesman.

He urged residents getting deliveries to:

  • Request a signature upon delivery so the package isn’t left outdoors unattended.
  • If the order is from a store located nearby have the packaged delivered to the store instead of your residence. Arrange to have deliveries made when someone is home or make arrangements with a neighbor to watch for a delivery.
  • If permitted and feasible have the package delivered to your place of employment or arrange to make the pick up at the courier’s station.

Lastly if suspicious persons or vehicles are observed call the police immediately at 203-261-3665, Scinto said.
