A Scenic New Spot to Walk Dogs, Watch Birds, Enjoy Nature

A new post-and-rail fence and grassy parking area, located on the west side of Sport Hill Road between Adams Road and Westport Road in Easton, marks the trailhead of Randall's Farm Nature Preserve. The exquisitely scenic property will officially open to the public at noon on Friday, June 8. The site will offer a free network of hiking trails through a beautiful expanse of meadows, forested wetlands, small ponds, and hardwood forest.

Mrs. Henry B. duPont of Southport donated the 34-acre parcel—once the Randall family's dairy farm—to local non-profit conservation group the Aspetuck Land Trust in late 2011.

The Aspetuck Land Trust maintains 44 trailed nature preserves on more than 1,700 acres in Easton, Weston, Westport, and Fairfield. A recent survey of 645 members and supporters found that the five most popular activities at its preserves are, in order of popularity, hiking, dog walking, getting children outdoors, bird watching, and photography and painting. In addition to those activities, horseback riding will be permitted at Randall’s Farm Nature Preserve if advance permission is obtained from Aspetuck Land Trust.

A map of the preserve is available at the Aspetuck Land Trust website.
