Opening Reception for Gillian Marshall's "Reflections of the Soul: My India" at Rockwell Fine Art on June 7

Award-winning photographer and Norwalk resident Gillian Marshall will present a solo exhibition of her work titled "Reflections of the Soul: My India" from June 7 to July 7 at Rockwell Art and Framing, located at 236 Post Rd. E. in Westport. An opening reception on June 7 from 6-8 p.m. kicks off the show. Indian restaurant Coromandel: Cuisine of India will cater the reception.

Marshall's portfolio focuses on South Asia—India, Sri Lanka, Laos, Bhutan, Tibet, Thailand, Mongolia and Cambodia—where she has been traveling extensively each year for the last fifteen years. "I believe my innate passion for this part of our world to be a rich legacy was instilled in me by my late aunt and uncle," said Marshall. Her uncle served as a British Political Officer in Tibet, Bhutan and Sikkim in the 1930's.

"During my travels, I have been fortunate to have had a private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his home-in-exile in Dharamsala, India and have stayed in Bhutan as a guest of the Bhutanese Royal Family," Marshall added. She also sponsors a young girl in India's western state of Gujarat.

Marshall has had numerous solo shows in southwestern Connecticut, but this is the first show featuring only images from India. As a member of numerous art societies in southwestern Connecticut, Marshall has won more than 70 awards, both locally and internationally.
