Script in Hand Playreading of “Crossing Delancey” at Westport Country Playhouse on Dec. 9

Casting is announced for the heart-felt, romantic comedy "Crossing Delancey," a Script in Hand playreading at Westport Country Playhouse, on Monday, Dec. 9 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. The play is written by Susan Sandler and directed by Anne Keefe.

In "Crossing Delancey," Isabel is a modern young woman who lives alone and works in a bookstore. When she is not pining after a handsome author, she is visiting her grandmother in Manhattan's Lower East Side. This delightfully nosey old lady and her friend the matchmaker have found a 'good catch' for Isabel – Sam, the pickle vendor.

Actors in the comedic story are

  • Ari Brand as Sam (Westport Country Playhouse's "The Diary of Anne Frank," Broadway's "The Neil Simon Plays," Off-Broadway's "My Name Is Asher Lev");
  • Kieran Campion as Tyler (Westport Country Playhouse's "Journey's End," "David Copperfield," and several Script in Hand playreadings, Broadway's "Our Town," "The American Plan");
  • Lynn Cohen as Bubbie (Broadway's "Ivanov," "Orpheus Descending"; films "Catching Fire: The Hunger Games 2," Steven Spielberg's "Munich," "Sex and the City" - TV and both movies);
  • Dana Steingold as Isabel (Westport Country Playhouse's "Into the Woods" as Little Red Ridinghood, and two Script in Hand playreadings, Broadway/National Tours of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee");
  • Cheryl Stern as Hannah (Westport Country Playhouse's " Into the Woods," Script in Hand playreading of "Beau Jest," Broadway's 2010 Tony Award-winning "La Cage aux Folles");
  • Ronald Cohen reading stage directions (New York's "Artist Descending a Staircase," "Henry IV Part One," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Twelfth Night").

Director Anne Keefe served as artistic director of Westport Country Playhouse with Joanne Woodward in 2008, and as associate artistic director from 2000-2006, also with Ms. Woodward. She co-directed with Ms. Woodward the Westport Country Playhouse production of "David Copperfield," and directed many Script in Hand playreadings.

Upcoming Script in Hand playreadings will be on Mondays on Feb. 10 and March 10 at 7 p.m. Titles will be announced soon.
