If you're like me and love to enjoy Westport's wonderful recreational treasures all summer, you're probably eager to renew your beach stickers and handpasses with Westport Parks and Recreation. Beach sticker renewal has been available for a while, but last year's handpasses for the pool and tennis courts at Longshore just expired on Tuesday and can now be renewed for summer 2014.
If you have an account with Parks and Rec, renewing is easy, but you have to find the link, which is---counterintuitively---not on the Memberships, Beaches, Longshore Pool, or Tennis Courts page but on the main Parks and Rec page under the picture of the beach umbrella. And there are several steps required to get your memberships renewed.

Once you've logged in (your password should fill in automatically after you enter your email address), click on the My Account button to access your account information. On the Account Options page, under Other Services, click on Purchase or Renew Memberships. The page that follows should show your memberships, such as handpasses, that are eligible for renewal. If you need to add a family member, such as a child over five who now requires a hand pass is required for the pool, contact Parks and Rec by phone at 203 341-5090 or email Recreation@westportct.gov and ask them to add your child.
Beach stickers are required as of May 1 for entrance and parking at Westport beaches---Compo, Burying Hill, and Old Mill. Dogs are not permitted on beaches after April 1. Longshore Golf Course opens on April 18. The pool at Longshore opens May 24.
Some residents may not know that the pool at Staples is available for swimming from mid-November through the June 1, free for children ages 6 to 17, $125 for adults, and $100 for seniors. Click here for more information about swimming at Staples.
