In honor of Connecticut Trails Day, Earthplace will be leading a special guided trail walk. Join us for a stroll through the swamp, forest and field; along the stream and past the pond as we investigate our sanctuary’s diverse habitats and their residents.
Connecticut Trails Day Weekend will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, as part of National Trails Day. You can take part in one of the 258 trail events, featured in this year's CT Trails Day Weekend Booklet.
There will be outdoor activities for everyone—including hiking, biking, horseback riding, running, trail maintenance, kayaking, educational walks, bird watching, letterboxing, and more. These events are guided by knowledgeable volunteers from local hiking clubs, parks and recreation departments, state agencies, conservation organizations, historic groups, education programs, and land trusts.
The mission of Earthplace is to build a passion in our community for nature and the environment through education, experience and action. Founded in 1958 and accredited by The American Association of Museums, Earthplace maintains a 62 acre wildlife sanctuary with trails, exhibits an interactive natural history museum with wildlife dioramas, houses live wildlife for public viewing and hosts many public nature programs and events. Other activities include a state-licensed preschool and summer camp, and the Harbor Watch water quality testing program.
