Just a couple of years ago, the stretch of Saugatuck approaching the New York-bound side of the station was an assemblage of ramshackle buildings set in front of an oil tank on the river. Now, it's a destination offering great food and drink, convenient condominium living, and riverfront access for all.
My son and I started our Father's Day morning with a beefy brunch at Saugatuck Craft Butchery---yes there's a cafe in addition to the butcher shop---featuring what he described as the "best burger ever, beating Shake Shack and Five Guys," and a perfectly done steak for me accompanied by an egg nestled in a slice of brioche toast. We sat outside on the lovely patio enjoying the almost-summer morning, with Craft's garden vegetables surrounding us in planters along the edges.
It was a perfect to way spend any Sunday morning, but an especially nice way to spend Father's Day.
