Westport's J. McLaughlin, The Toy Post, Panera, join Tiny Miracle Foundations prematurity awareness campaign

Nearly 20 retail outlets will be home to The Tiny Miracles Foundation’s first-ever “Prematurity Awareness Campaign” this month. The community-wide campaign was created to generate visibility for the widespread incidence of premature births, while raising funds for Tiny Miracles programs for families of premature babies.

“Prematurity impacts our community in a significant way; One in 10 babies are born preterm,” said Tina Tison, executive director of Tiny Miracles.  “In nearly every circumstance, a premature baby will spend days, weeks or even months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). As a result, the premature birth of a baby can be isolating, confusing and frightening for parents. We focus on providing compassionate care to families facing the trauma of premature birth.”

Businesses across Fairfield County and beyond have pledged to support Tiny Miracles by offering special promotions and events in the days surrounding November 17 – recognized as Prematurity Awareness Day.

Based in Darien, The Tiny Miracles Foundation is a nonprofit organization that fulfills the emotional, practical and financial needs of the families of more than 1,200 premature babies born each year in southwestern Connecticut. Founded in 2004 as a response to one in 10 babies being born prematurely in our communities, Tiny Miracles supports parents through on-site partnerships with six leading hospitals in Fairfield and New Haven counties. Thanks to generous individual and corporate donors, all Tiny Miracles’ support is available to families free of charge.
