Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Trusting Readers!

Three questions with Jen and Hannah, founders of Trusting Readers.

Why did you start your business?

We believe that schools need professional development that is tailored to meet the needs of their particular students. We started our business so that we could provide individualized professional learning opportunities for teachers.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our best-selling product is our book, which can be found in the cover image of this interview! We do complimentary book clubs with teachers when they are reading and studying the book together.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

COVID forced us the reimagine how we work with teachers and students. As a result, we now offer a wide range of professional learning experiences, such as a combination of in-person and online workshops, online webinars that people in multiple time zones can access, and working one on one with students in a virtual setting.

We are constantly striving to get better at what we do so that we can support schools effectively.

Jen and Hannah would like to nominate Kerstin Rao to be featured next - "She is a local teacher-turned-artist"!
