Town of Westport Christmas Tree Recycling

The Director of Public Works reminds residents that live Christmas trees WILL NOT be accepted at the Westport Transfer Station (300 Sherwood Island Connector) because natural Christmas trees are not trash and can be recycled.

Mr. Ratkiewich noted, “If you participate in contracted trash pick-ups, please check with your hauler to see if they can deliver your tree to the Yard Waste Facility (180 Bayberry Lane) for a fee.”

Before any natural tree recycling, remove all tinsel, lights and decorations.

Synthetic trees, flocked trees, or trees in plastic bags will NOT be accepted.

Please consider the following ways to recycle your tree.

  • Have your Christmas tree picked up by the SCOUTS this year. BSA Troops 39 & 139 will recycle your tree for a suggested donation of $20. See link: Westport Troop 39 & 139 Christmas Tree Pickup
  • TREES FOR TROUT. Donate your clean tree and help create new habitats for our aquatic friends in the Norwalk River. $10 Donation. https://www.mianustu.org/events
  • FREE to residents. Bring your clean tree to the Westport Yard Waste Facility behind the Aspetuck Health District at 180 Bayberry Lane.
