The Westport Downtown Merchants Association invites all backyard smokers and grillers to enter the Blues, Views & BBQ Festival's Kansas City BBQ Society-sanctioned amateur contest, "Cooking for a Cause" or "Kid's Q" barbeque competition on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
Be crowned King, Queen or Top Kid of the 'Q!
"Cookin' for a Cause" will pit (pun intended) teams of two to four against each other to win in four BBQ categories; chicken, ribs, chef's choice and dessert. Prizes will be awarded for the best in each category, and proceeds will benefit the Westport Woman's Club Food Closet, which provides over 500 bags of food and over $15,000 in grocery cards to local families in need each year - truly a "win" for everyone. Put on your apron and have fun while doing good.
The "Kid's Q" invites teams of two to four kid chefs, with an adult supervisor, to compete in three BBQ categories; burger, hot dog, and chef's choice. Kids are encouraged to use their creativity to impress the judges; use special ingredients, interesting garnishes, and bold flavors – think "outside of the bun"!

The 6th Annual Blues, Views and BBQ, will take place on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at the Levitt Pavilion on Jesup Green. Please visit bluesviewsBBQ.com for competition entry forms and ticket information.
