Registration Now Open for Westport Writers' Workshop Fall 2013 Courses, Open House on Sept. 15

Now in its 10th year, the Westport Writers' Workshop (WWW) has opened registration for its Fall 2013 line-up, which includes workshops in fiction, nonfiction, memoir writing, and writing for children. Workshops begin Sept. 9.

In response to public demand, in 2013 the WWW began offering business writing workshops designed to sharped the skills of business professionals. These include Brush Up Your Business Writing Skills one-time Saturday workshop and the Become a Better Business Writer workshop series.

The Fall season kicks off with a festive open house called A Celebration of Our Writers to be held on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 5 - 7 p.m. at 3 Sylvan Road South. "This is an informal gathering where our existing writers and workshop leaders can reunite and where new and aspiring writers can come see what the Westport Writers' Workshop is all about," said WWW founder and director Jessica Bram. Attendance is free, and anyone interested in meeting Westport Writers' Workshop participants and workshop leaders is invited to attend.

The Westport Writers' Workshop's offerings are all led by seasoned regional writers who are well-known for their focus on the craft of their students' writing. Writing is done outside of class and critiqued during the workshop in a supportive and constructive atmosphere. Limited to six or seven participants each, the workshops are based on a teaching method that focuses on developing the highest caliber of writing in an interactive, supportive setting to enable weekly focus on each participant's work.

"Since we first began offering these workshops almost ten years ago, we have seen a continual need for high caliber writing classes by people who are serious about having work published," Bram. "This has accounted for our continued grown since our founding in 2004. Our workshops are not discussion groups and but rather highly focused workshops in writing craft."

The Fall 2013 line up includes workshops at all levels, from introductory level to advanced. These include Level 1 workshops such as Introduction to Fiction Writing and Writing About Your Life, and Level 2 workshops like Intermediate Fiction, Writing About Your Life: Memoir/Personal Essay. We are also pleased to offer the level 3 The Examined Life: Personal Essay.

We will also continue to offer Writopia Lab Creative Writing workshops for the 7 to 18 age group, as well as private college essay coaching.

Information about all upcoming workshops is available at westportwritersworkshop.com or by calling (203) 227-3250.
