JoyRide Cycling + Fitness Studio to Host STAR 99.9 Pinktober Fundraising Rides in Westport and Ridgefield

JoyRide events support Western Connecticut Health Network’s Breast Cancer Centers on Thursday, October 5 – 6-8 p.m

To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, JoyRide Cycling + Fitness Studio will host STAR 99.9’s Pinktober Pedal for a Cause fundraising event in their Ridgefield and Westport studios on Thursday, October 5 to raise money to support Western Connecticut Health Network’s (WCHN) Breast Cancer Centers. Star 99.9 personalities Anna Zap and Jay Raven, the co-hosts of “The Anna and Raven Show,” will join the rides during this second annual Pedal for a Cause, which will also include raffles for coveted items like concert tickets and JoyRide class packs.

“We're thrilled to once again team up with JoyRide for a night that is sure to be filled with laughs, adrenaline, and good times to benefit Western Connecticut Health Network’s breast cancer centers,” said Anna Zap.

“[JoyRide] is absolutely amazing,” said Raven on the morning show. “The instructors are motivational and [the classes are] emotional. You go into this room, you’re expecting just a workout, but you almost get a therapy session along with the workout. You work out your junk, your stuff, in this room, and I love that. It’s just an incredible experience.”

Both rides will be held Thursday, October 5 at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. The Westport ride will be led by JoyRide co-founder/co-owner Rhodie Lorenz (Westport, Conn.) and the Ridgefield ride will be led by Jared Marinelli and Adam Keller (both of Ridgefield, Conn.). The suggested minimum donation is $25 per rider. All donations will enable help support WCHN’s breast cancer services.

When JoyRide co-founders and Westport residents Amy Hochhauser and Rhodie Lorenz founded their first boutique indoor cycling studio nearly seven years ago, hosting fundraisers and helping the community were central components of their ethos. They have witnessed, first-hand, how fitness can transform people’s lives, whether it be improving their health, becoming stronger physically and emotionally or overcoming challenges on and off the bike.

“At JoyRide, we strongly believe that as a community, we can join forces to help people when they are faced with challenges and diseases like breast cancer,” said Lorenz. “We have known too many people afflicted with this terrible disease, and we want women to know they are not alone.”
