Make-A-Wish® Connecticut Grants TWO Surprise Wishes on World Wish Day

Trumbull, CT - During a time when close to 150 Make-A-Wish CT wishes have had to be postponed, Connecticut youth stepped it up and doubled the hope by raising enough funds to grant two wishes. The Chi Omega chapters of both Sacred Heart University and Quinnipiac University will be on hand to cheer, greet and celebrate the granting of two local children's wishes, on April 29 in Trumbull.

Make-A-Wish CT will also be recognizing 16-year-old Nico Lastrina with the Youth Chairman’s Council Award for selling $100,000 worth of lemonade since he was four years old. Nico’s goal was to reach that goal by the time he graduated high school. Not only has he succeeded, but he helped make 10 wishes come true!

While wish kid MaLeiah is 14, lives in New Haven and suffers with a blood disorder and Andrew is 18, lives in Wolcott and is battling cancer, the differences stop there. Both wish kids love sushi and wish to build gaming computers. Each arriving from different directions, they will be shocked on April 29 when State Police-escorted limos bring them to Make-A-Wish CT's Wishing Place to be (safely and at an appropriate distance) greeted by both schools’ Chi Omega sisters, the corporate park business community and Make-A-Wish Connecticut staff!

Picture colorful signs, a DJ with live music, balloons and TWO big reveals! World Wish Day on April 29 is the anniversary of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish in 1980. There’s nothing more powerful than celebrating this international day by showcasing the younger generation jumping in to create hope for other youth.

The wish-granting ceremony will be held Thursday, April 29, 3:30-5pm, at Make-A-Wish Connecticut, 56 Commerce Drive, Trumbull, CT.
