The final results are in! Over 680 participants from across Connecticut and the United States took a combined 23,946,063 steps in support of the 40,000 homeless Veterans in the United States by participating in the 7th annual Step OUT for the Brave 40,000 Step Challenge.

The fundraiser, which took place from August 7-15, with additional donations accepted through the month of August, raised $92,000.These funds will enable Homes for the Brave (HFTB) to continue its mission to help homeless individuals, mostly Veterans, secure income, find safe and affordable housing, and make meaningful contributions to our community.

The challenge is named for the 40,000 Veterans experiencing homelessness across the United States. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development 2020 Annual Homeless Assessment Report, the number of veterans experiencing homelessness increased in 2020, even before the effects of the coronavirus pandemic were felt.

“We are grateful to everyone who participated this year and made the event an outstanding success. Thanks to you, we can continue our work to help Veterans attain safe, affordable housing, meaningful life activity and a liveable income,” said CEO and Executive Director, Vince Santilli.
