Jean-Paul Desrosiers on the Toughest Footrace on Earth

Exactly how much stress can a human body endure? Jean-Paul Desrosiers, Jr., Marine Corps veteran, semi-pro cyclist and marathoner found out when he took on what is considered the toughest footrace on earth, the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert. Hear him recount his experience on Thursday, July 24, at 7 pm in the Westport Library's McManus Room. The program is free and open to the public.

Desrosiers, owner of Sherpafit in Westport, will talk about the physical and mental journey he took to prepare for and complete the 156-mile, five-day race across the African desert, and how the experience expanded his views about what is humanly possible.

"I've always been an outdoor enthusiast," the 39-year-old Weston resident says in a Dan Woog blog post. "I like to push boundaries. I believe life happens on the edges of your comfort zone."
