Celebrating Leonard Bernstein on March 10 with Fairfield County Chorale

Leonard Bernstein: A Centennial Celebration with The Fairfield County Chorale -- Saturday, March 10, 2018, 7:30pm, Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Avenue

Join The Fairfield County Chorale as they celebrate one of Fairfield's most renown residents, Leonard Bernstein, on his 100th birthday by performing his exuberant Chichester Psalms and “Make our garden grow” from his 1956 operetta, Candide. Dvořák’s Te Deum and Bruckner’s Psalm 150 complete this highly spirited program. Most of Bernstein composing took place in his Fairfield house, which remains in the Bernstein family. The concert will be conducted by FCC music director, David Rosenmeyer with assistant conductor Michael Sheetz taking the baton for Bruckner’s Psalm 150. Featured soloists are soprano Anna Dugan and baritone Marcelo Guzzo, with Fairfield sixth grader Nicolas Peterson joining the chorale to sing treble in Chichester Psalms.

“Celebrating Bernstein is very personal to me,” said Rosenmeyer. “I had the good fortune to see him conduct when I was 14. I already knew I wanted to be a conductor, but after that concert, I knew exactly what kind of conductorI wanted to be

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and $5 for students. Group rates are available on request. Tickets are available from Chorale members, on the FCC website, by mail, or by phone.
