For Touched By Adoption's Eighth Annual Adoption Education Event, we are delighted to welcome back Thomas Ahern. He is accompanied by Calo program's Chief Clinical Officer, Rob Gent. Using the framework of Thomas’ lifelong journey, this year’s discussion will explore the meaning and purpose of the search and reunion process and the challenges of identity integration. Under the guidance of Rob Gent, participants will learn effective ways to cope with adoption trauma.

Thomas Ahern, MA, is the Senior Vice President of Calo Programs and an adoptee in reunion.  He has been working in clinical, leadership and youth advocacy roles for over thirty years. Thomas began his career as a school psychologist and has been a dedicated advocate for improvement in the treatment and understanding of developmental trauma impacted by adoption. He is a powerful presenter and has provided training at the local, state and national levels.

Rob Gent, is one of the founding members of Calo Teens and a PhD candidate. Rob has led the organization in clinical development and growth and is the lead developer of the proprietary CASA Developmental Trauma Treatment model. He has become a nationally recognized expert in the field.  He remains passionate about neurological, psychological and physiological development and continues to focus on the advancement of research and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
