Why are there cannons on Compo? Why do murals around town show Redcoats on the beach? On Sunday, April 29, from 4 to 5 pm, WHS will host a fun kid-focused talk sharing the answer to these and other interesting questions about the 241st anniversary of the Danbury Raid.
Youngsters will get to hear about how the only inland raid in Connecticut during the Revolutionary War began with 1,800 British troops landing at Compo Beach. Danbury raid expert, Ed Hynes, will share this exciting part of history in own backyard and highlights an interesting aspect of the war: the extent to which local Colonists were divided for and against the Revolution.
