WHS Presents An Evening of Winter Solstice Storytelling, Dec. 21

Westport, CT - Once there was, and once there wasn’t… so begins the tales of ancient Persian storytellers, especially on the Winter Solstice when they told exciting stories to cheer gatherers on the year’s longest night. Throughout history the first day of winter has always been a time to gather and share a good tale while enjoying friendship and food. This year Westport Historical Society revives the Winter Solstice tale-telling tradition and invites you to join them for some cheer as they follow the Yule traditions and honor the Winter Solstice. Help them keep this lively tradition going by taking part in reading a story they’ve selected or bring your own to share. You’ll also hear about the origin of celebrations around the world associated with the winter holidays.

Westport Historical Society, 25 Avery Place, Winter Solstice Storytelling, December 21, 6 – 7 pm
