CT Dance School Presents “Dances to Celebrate Spring" at Westport Playhouse, April 5

Westport, CT - Connecticut Dance School’s fundraiser, “Dances to Celebrate Spring”, will be held at the Westport Country Playhouse on Friday, April 5. This annual event will also include a reception and silent auction in the Barn. The one-hour program features advanced CDS students, the music of Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff and a contemporary dance piece choreographed by Emily Frangipane. Also guest choreographer Christina Fagundes Turner, a former American Ballet Theater soloist, has prepared a piece for the highest level students.

Proceeds from the evening will fund a range of the school’s dance enrichment initiatives, both for the school and the community, including its annual Nutcracker outreach performances for Bridgeport elementary school students, master classes by guest artists, school maintenance and student scholarships.

The School’s Artistic Director, Moira Murphy Wright sees performance as an important part of a dancer’s growth. “This evening provides a vital performance opportunity for the School’s dancers. Performance on-stage is one of a dancer’s most important skills. Communicating with an audience is what dance is all about.”

The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with a silent auction preview, followed by the performance at 7:00 p.m – 8 p.m., and a reception, including the silent auction with wine and hors d'oeuvres from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
