Yale Alley Cats Perform at Emmanuel Church April 7

Emmanuel Episcopal Church will host “Live from Emmanuel” -- an enjoyable afternoon of music on Sunday, April 7 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, 285 Lyons Plain Road, Weston. Audiences will be entertained by The Yale Alley Cats and a bonus opener by Friends of Emmanuel, produced by Kristin Huffman and featuring Keeme and The Bridgeport Boys Choir, Gwendolyn Jones, Christian Cardozo and more. Younger singers will share a stand out moment from West Side Story, their sold out show and joint New Paradigm Theater and Norwalk Symphony production. A donation of $20 per person is requested. There will be light refreshments and the event is open to the public.

A Capella Group, The Yale Alley Cats, were founded in 1943 after their founders serenaded the college campus from the top of Saybrook Tower. This mens’ group, 75 years strong, has traveled the globe most recently to China, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. Though rooted in the classics of American jazz music, their repertoire has expanded over the decades to include pop hits, Motown and beyond, some of which they will sing at Emmanuel Church. Their spot-on harmonies and complex arrangements allow them to perform for any audience.

“With a repertoire ranging from jazz classics to pop ballads, the Cats have had the honor of sharing our dynamic and witty performance style with all sorts of audiences, from students to presidents and celebrities. We are excited for the opportunity to perform for you at Live from Emmanuel,” said Tyler Shen, Business Manager, The Yale Alley Cats.

Broadway star and New Paradigm Theater founder, Kristin Huffman, will also perform with a talented group she’s gathered. Huffman appeared in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “Company” as Sarah. Her two-decade career also includes playing Christine in the European tour of “Phantom of the Opera.” She is the founder and producing artistic director of the New Paradigm Theater and a professor at the University of Hartford.

The Bridgeport Boys Choir was formed in 1986, under the leadership of Gwendolyn Johnson and her late husband, James. The choir includes young men from inner-city Bridgeport and neighboring towns, where they hone not only their voices, but also bolster self-esteem and leadership skills.

“Emmanuel has put together an especially wonderful program of music which should delight. Our Great hall will produce an exceptional experience. We hope the public will come and support our offering,” said John Boys, Senior Warden, Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
