On Friday, October 4, from 7:00 to 11:00pm, at the Weston Field Club, CT Theater Dance Company, a 501(c)3 that inspires New England audiences with accessible contemporary works incorporating the finest artistic ballet traditions and provides scholarships to local families for fine arts education, is holding a Gala to raise funds for the Encore Youth Scholarship, a tuition-assisted dance program which has awarded over $300,000 in funds for aspiring young dancers.
The company will host their fundraiser gala, Moonlight Masquerade, a masked-costume ball where spirits, hors d'oeuvres, pâtisseries, and dancing await. Guests are invited to flaunt their favorite alter ego fantasies while mingling in the moonlight and enjoying spirits with the spirits as they prepare to haunt the dance floor.
To be previewed at this gala is CT Theater Dance Company’s newest creation: Once Upon a Dark Night-- an original ballet to officially premiere at Westport Town Hall the following afternoon, October 5, in collaboration with Westport Historical Society. Artistic Director Michelle Sperry and Associate Director Jade Primicias aim to bring classic Halloween folklore to life, along with Westport’s own haunted history. At the Moonlight Masquerade gala and the following day’s performance, guests will feel the feathers of Poe’s Raven, make way as Ichabod Crane stumbles by, and watch out for the estranged Hall-Brooke Sanitarium director as she comes back with a vengeance, all while witches, vampires, and a few stranger things lurk about.
Onsite childcare is offered to Moonlight Masquerade guests in the form of a Halloween PJ Party-- for $30 per child or $50 per family, youth will enjoy a Halloween party full of festivities, snacks, and movies, just a stone’s throw from parents dancing the night away.
