Deadline approaches. Could be the last Clambake of the year!
The deadline to order the novel “clambake to go” which comes all in one pot is this Thursday, July 23rd. “We weren't originally planning on having another one,” said Jim Keenan, the man behind this effort for Chowdafest. “But so many people asked us to offer them a few more times and give them more opportunities to enjoy summer like they are used to. We were hoping to do this again for Labor Day but unless sales pick up, that seems unlikely,” he added.
Every “clambake to go” comes in a pot that the customer keeps. Each meal includes a meaty 1.5 lb lobster, clams, mussels, sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob. They're convenient and simple to cook as you just add water, beer or wine to the pot, then steam it between 20 and 40 minutes depending on how many meals you have.
Chowdafest is hoping their last effort wasn't artificially inflated because it was Father's Day. “Clambakes are rare and seasonal to begin with,” noted Keenan. “Just having your family and friends over for a fun clambake is a great way to say congratulations on a high school or college graduation not to mention any other occasion that got canceled or postponed”.
