Artists Respond to 2020, Exhibit in Westport October 3 through November 30

A pop-up exhibition titled 2020: People Politics, Planet will showcase area artists’ work that responds to today’s controversial topics. The exhibition will run from October 3rd through November 30th at 23 Jesup Road in Westport, CT and online at www.2020pppwestport.com.

Artists from Southern Connecticut have responded to climate change, political division, racial oppression, and Covid19 in their artwork. The exhibition has been organized by artists Amy Kaplan, Darcy Hicks, and Janine Brown, who wanted to create a forum for artists to be heard through their art, and to bring the community together to share in the conversations.

The Gallery show is curated by Jahmane, of Jahmane Artz, Rene Soto of Rene Soto Gallery, and Amy Kaplan of the Artists Collective of Westport. The gallery will be open Thursdays from 2-8 PM and Friday/Saturday/Sundays from 12 - 6 PM during the course of the show. Masks are required, and the gallery capacity will be limited to create a safe viewing experience.

Everyone is welcome to look in the windows at any time or visit the gallery virtually from your own safe space, at www.2020PPPwestport.com. There you will find the virtual exhibit, plus a special online only exhibit of additional works that were submitted and information on future events connected to the show. The community is encouraged to follow the exhibit and comment on Instagram @2020PPPwestport; or create your own art inspired by the topics, post and tag with #2020PPPwestport. Let’s continue the conversation.
