Sharing the Love Art Exhibit Opens and Celebrates Love with Westport Residents

February 12, 2021, Westport, CT –RealArtRealArtists.com (aka RaRa) of Westport, CT, and founder Lisa Stretton are not allowing Covid-19 and an international pandemic to limit the opportunity for Fairfield County residents to experience and enjoy art as it should be: easily accessible and personal. During current times, it may be slightly more challenging to access – and enjoy Art -- but one local artist has turned this into an opportunity to bring Art to the people.

During the week of Valentine’s Day, The Residence at Westport, the town’s only senior living community where many local Westport natives and residents have chosen to live, many of them art lovers themselves, will be hosting the “Sharing The Love” art exhibit. The exhibit will be available for two weeks and highlights over 18 local artists and their works, with original pieces ranging from the talents of emerging to professional artists. All have Fairfield County roots. Over 20 works of art will be displayed and exhibited at the Residence at Westport, located at 1141 Post Road East in the heart of Westport.

Additionally, on Friday, February 19th, The Residence at Westport will feature “Cocktails and Curating,” an interactive and onsite reception where artists will share their backgrounds, biographies, artistic inspirations, and highlights of their works exhibited to guests onsite, as well as to those who are visiting via Zoom, including the Westport Senior Center members. Local Westport artist and RealArtRealArtist founder Lisa Stretton will be hosting the greatly anticipated exhibit at The Residence at Westport and speaking about her organization and its
efforts in bringing art to the people.

The Real Art Real Artists™ (RaRa) website was born from an idea Stretton had after recognizing a real challenge in the art industry. “Many artists, despite incredible talent, struggle to make their creations known to the public. Buyers, often with specific characteristics in mind, struggle to find the piece they’re looking for. With the launch of RaRa 2020, Stretton aims to bridge the gap between artist and consumer,” stated Stretton. Stretton created an online directory where anyone can search for original art pieces for sale by professional artists in their community.

The Residence at Westport’s Executive Director Michele Piskin is pleased about the community partnership developed with RaRa. “Our residents are very much looking forward to this exhibit and the opportunity that this art can come to them directly. Many residents are artisans themselves; others are art lovers and art connoisseurs. All our residents feel strongly about supporting the local arts and cultural scene here in Westport and Fairfield County. Having the opportunity to enjoy the art in person – and support the local artists -- is something they feel strongly about,” explained Piskin.
