The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of the arts and culture across the 15 towns in our region of coastal Fairfield County and each Wednesday issues our free E-Buzz newsletter with a selection of the hundreds of events posted to our website by our members. 

Friday is music night; starting with Fairfield’s SHU Community Theatre celebrating its grand reopening with Friday at 7pm, Connecticut native and NBC’s The Voice winner Javier Colón and his band, with opening act by award-winning singer-songwriter Matt Cusson, who has toured with Christina Aguilera, India Arie and Dave Koz.

Also Friday at 7pm, MoCAWestport’s Music @MoCa continues with British pianist Simon Mulligan who has played with the Royal Philharmonic, the BBC Symphony, the English Symphony Orchestras and many more, playing with his trio: Gene Perla on bass and Adam Nussbaum on drums. Bring your lawn chairs, buy food and drinks, and enjoy MoCA’s new exhibition, Between the Ground and the Sky.

Friday, 7:30pm at The Ridgefield Playhouse, celebrate 60 Years of New Orleans Music with the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Led by Ben Jaffe on bass and tuba, the band is living, breathing New Orleans history, adding to its traditional New Orleans jazz repertoire with original compositions and Afro-Cuban rhythms. 

Saturday at 7pm Fairfield’s SHU Community Theatre continues its reopening celebrations with Megan Hilty, live. The singer-actress has wowed audiences as Glinda in Broadway’s Wicked, Patsy Cline in Patsy & Loretta and Doralee Rhodes in Broadway’s 9 to 5: The Musical. She has performed with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, with the National Symphony and the New York Philharmonicas well as headlining residencies at New York’s legendary Café Carlyle.

Saturday through Monday, 9-6, The 60th Annual Mark Twain Library Book Fair at Redding’s Community center,  has over 65,000 books for sale organized in 75 categories! Sat prices as marked; Sunday all books half-price; Monday $10 for a box of books.

Saturday day through Thursday, at various times, Stamford’s Avon Theatre Film Center presents The Lost Leonardo - a new documentary telling the inside story behind the rediscovered and restored masterpiece Salvator Mundi by Leonardo, the most expensive painting ever sold, bought for $1000 at a shady New Orleans auction house. 

At the galleries:

Sat 10-4pm Silvermine Arts Center, New Canaan, presents Voices, 20th Anniversary 9/11 Art Exhibition of Hope and Healing. This is a highly curated show from a private, collection of artistic expression by artists of all ages from around the world, reflections of hope and healing, in response to 9/11 over two decades.

Sunday 2-5 at Fairfield’s Art/Place Gallery, adjoining FTC, the opening reception for an exhibition, Beside the Seaside, Beside the Sea of recent seascape oil paintings by British born Fairfield resident  Jason Pritchard. The subjects include the much-loved coastal beaches from surrounding areas, including Fairfield, Westport, Greenwich as well as his latest project, Cape Cod. 

Opening Sunday, 4-6pm, at the Rowayton Arts Center “Marine & Coastal Art” Exhibition, an all media exhibition features artwork by RAC Exhibiting Members with a marine and coastal theme.
