The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of the arts and culture across the 15 towns in our region of coastal Fairfield County and each Wednesday issues our free E-Buzz newsletter with a selection of the hundreds of events posted to our website by our members.

Lots to celebrate in Arts and Culture this weekend! Father’s Day, Pride Month, and Juneteenth events are everywhere – many in the great outdoors! Grab your dad, your partner, your friends and head to any or all of the following events:

Shakespeare on the Sound’s KING JOHN at Pinkney Park, Rowayton

Friday, June 17 - Sunday, June 19, 7:00 pm

For the 26th season of Shakespeare on the Sound, enjoy a captivating tale of a battle between England & France, full of intrigue, battles, deception, powerful females, and a fierce rivalry. Running through July 3rd, Tuesdays - Sundays at 7:00 pm, with Kids' Shows at 5:00 pm & 5:30 pm each night before the show.

Norwalk Art Festival in Mathews Park, Norwalk

Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free family friendly arts and culture! This two-day festival features the works of over 75 juried artists from local and national talent, exhibiting a wide variety of media including photography, drawing, ceramics, jewelry, painting, mixed media, printmaking, fiber, metal and sculpture. Located in a beautiful park setting nestled between two museums and nationally recognized art centers. 

The Norwalk Art Festival Tom Knight Music & Puppet Show at The Ridgefield Library

Saturday, June 18, 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm

Families with children of all ages will be treated to music and a puppet show with the charismatic Tom Knight as he performs his Library Boogie Show. Knight brings fun, whimsy, and personality to the center stage. A pinch of puppetry, a dash of music, and a sprinkling of videography have been baking for more than 30 years to create an engaging, delightful persona that has charmed audiences around the world. 

Yankee Doodle Fair at The Westport Woman’s Club

 

Friday, June 17 - Sunday, June 19, 

Kids of all ages will enjoy one of Westport’s oldest and best-loved family events! This fair features carnival rides and games, food, live music, sand art, a bake sale, raffle drawings, and more. Fair proceeds benefit Fairfield County charitable causes and need-based college scholarships. 

2nd Annual Juneteenth Day at The Mark Twain Library 

Friday, June 17, 4:00 - 5:30 pm

Gather on the lawn of the library for Poetry, Justice & Jazz. Celebrate the day with discussions, jazz classics and selected poetry readings moderated by Tom Kilbourn, Episcopal priest and retired Joel Barlow High School English teacher. Registration recommended.

PRIDE Cabaret Night! at The Westport Library 

Friday, June 17, 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

In celebration of PRIDE month and in partnership with Westport Pride, this evening of music, performing arts and comedy spotlights the talent of Westport’s LGBTQ+ community. Hosted by comedian and activist Mina Hartong, the night begins with a social cocktail hour where guests can mingle with local organizations serving the LGBTQ+ community. Showtime begins at 7:30 pm.

“An Evening Under the Fireflies” 2022 New Canaan Sculpture Trail Opening

at the Carriage Barn Arts Center, New Canaan

Friday, June 17, 7:00 - 10:00 pm

The New Canaan Land Trust and New Canaan’s Carriage Barn Arts Center invite the community to the opening celebration of the 2022 New Canaan Sculpture Trail, a collaborative outdoor art exhibition that inspires reflections about our natural surroundings. This fundraiser event features: wine; local craft beer and signature cocktails; a local farm to table menu; a jazz trio; a silent auction with unique items; and the opportunity to mingle with artists. 

Family Day at MoCA Westport

Saturday, June 18, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Come and see the world-famous Piglet, and Melissa Shapiro, author and co-creator of The Piglet Mindset educational outreach program. Watch Norwalk artist 5iveFingaz create a mural of Piglet in real time on the Museum grounds. Participate in a sensory focused art activity led by MoCA Westport instructors, enjoy live music by local favorite Dustin Lowman, and grab a treat from the on-site ice cream truck.

Frank Mastrone in “A Tribute to Broadway” at Music Theatre of Connecticut, Norwalk

Saturday, June 18, 8:00 pm

 

MTC's Hot Summer Nights cabaret series begins with an evening of Broadway favorites with Frank Mastrone who has appeared on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Cats, Big: The Musical, Jekyll & Hyde and Saturday Night Fever. Additional special guests may surprise the audience at this performance! 

Isaac Mizrahi’s  Cabaret Show at The Ridgefield Playhouse

Saturday, June 18, 8:00 - 10:00 pm

Celebrate Pride Month with famed clothing designer and Project Runway All Stars judge, ​​Isaac Mizrahi. Accompanied by his band of jazz musicians, Mizrahi will perform a range of tunes by the likes of Madonna and Barbra Streisand to Billie Eilish, Cole Porter and more. AND he’ll dish on everything happening in social media, politics, sex, and his latest Instagram obsessions!

Make Music Ridgefield: Music & Art In The Park in Ballard Park Ridgefield

Sunday, June 19, 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Ridgefield Arts Council kicks off Make Music Day with a free event in Ballard Park, featuring local musicians performing throughout the day and artists’ work on display. Enjoy a wide array of musical talent performing jazz, rock, blues, and everything in between. See School of Rock House Band, Brian Butler Quartet, 3PO, Scott Robert Trio, Tony & the Westsiders, Daniel John Moriarty, and more. The international celebration of music is held each year in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries and it continues on Tuesday 11am-7pm when anyone is invited to participate in any space, in any way they’d like. “Unheard Voices” Theatrical Event and Talkback at The Ridgefield Library

Sunday, June 19, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This special theatrical event commemorates the anniversary of the end of Slavery with a monologue play including music and drumming. It brings to life a moment in time that might have been and gives voice to those African descended individuals who lived, loved, laughed, and endured on the streets of 17th- and 18th-century NY. Talkback will follow. Please register.
