Westport Book Shop to Host Poet Bruce Lawder, Feb. 2

Westport, CT — Westport Book Shop is pleased to be hosting an after-hours poetry reading with poet Bruce Lawder, on Thursday evening, February 2, 2023, at 6 pm. Bruce will be sharing poems from his soon-to-be-released fourth poetry book, “Shorelines”.

Bruce Lawder is a former Westporter and a Staples High School graduate who now lives abroad, splitting his time between Switzerland and France.  In addition to his poetry, Bruce has published a book of essays, Vers le vers, on poetic structure in French, German and English-language poetry, and has published translations and short fiction in a number of magazines, including Agni, Little Star, Raritan, TriQuarterly, Salmagundi, PN Review, The Massachusetts Review, The Yale Review, Notre Dame Review, The Hudson Review, Conjunctions, and Bluestem online, and articles on painting for the catalogs of galleries and museums in France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  He holds a B.A. in English and American Literature from Dartmouth College, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Zürich, where he has also taught.  Before embarking on a teaching career, Bruce was an actor at the Charles Street Playhouse in Boston, Massachusetts.

Westport Book Shop, a nonprofit used book store, is downtown Westport’s only source for previously read and greatly appreciated used and antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and audio books.  It is located at 23 Jesup Road, right across Jesup Green from the Westport Library.
