Westport, CT – “Standing Ovation” is not just the title of Suzanne Sheridan’s CD being released on October 1st at First Folk Sunday. Standing ovations are what have been happening after all the performances at First Folk Sunday since the popular music series began on May 7 of this year.
At the October 1st CD Release Party, every audience member will get a complimentary copy of the CD (several decades in the making) and a slice of party cake. All songs on the CD are written and performed by Sheridan.
Releasing this CD, which includes her country hit “90 Pound Suburban Housewife Driving in Her SUV,” has been a major goal for Suzanne ever since the end of the pandemic. On January 14, 2006, the song was played for the first time on NPR’s “Car Talk”, then placed on iTunes, then seen on “The Today Show”, Fox News, ABC Eyewitness News, CNN(Jeanne Moos), then written about in The New York Times, USA Today, and newspapers across the country. It became a musical phenomenon and Westport was the inspiration for the song.
At First Folk Sunday, Sheridan will be on vocals and guitar performing many of the songs on the CD, with Bob Cooper accompanying her on keyboards. Featured musicians on the CD include Chris Coogan, Beth Styles, Andy Gundell, Ed Thompson, Scarlett Lee Moore, John Lathan, Mary Bond Davis, Leslie Miller, Jeff Gomard, the late Giff Foster and Matt Nozzolio, John Moses, Mike Mills and “Children of the Sun” Drumming Circle, and The Studebakers of Austin, Texas. The songs were recorded over several years in different studios in various towns and cities. But it came together thanks to the master mixing skills of sound engineer Chris Brown.
