Transit District Launches New Campaign Highlighting Benefits of Riding Commuter Shuttles to and from local Train Stations

Posted Date:11/6/2017

The Westport Transit District (“WTD”) is launching a new campaign to inform Metro-North commuters about an app introduced this year that lets riders track the location of the WTD commuter shuttles so they can step out of their door shortly before a shuttle arrives.  This initiative also highlights several other benefits of taking the shuttles noted by riders in the WTD’s town-wide survey.

This information will be provided in a number of ways, which include:
  1. A series of email messages sent to Railroad parking permit holders and people on the Railroad parking permit waiting list and Westport Parks and Recreation list over the next few weeks – with additional emails to come early next year. The first email can be found at:  Westport Transit Email #1.
  2. New posters placed at the train stations and other locations around Westport.
  3. Cards showing the shuttle route map and other information that will be available at various locations.

The new campaign was developed by award-winning advertising executive and long-time Westport resident, Rob Feakins, in collaboration with the WTD Directors. They worked with Jyoti Dasgupta, Founder and Creative Strategist of GreatOwl Creative, who developed new designs for the campaign.

The Westport Railroad Parking Division is also assisting the WTD with various aspects of the program.
The Westport Transit District provides public transportation in the Town of Westport with minibuses operated under subcontract with the Norwalk Transit District.  Its services include commuter shuttles operating on seven routes to and from the Saugatuck and Greens Farms rail stations and daytime Door-to-Door transportation for seniors and citizens with disabilities.

Information about the services of the WTD can be found at www.westporttransit.org
