Westport Community Leaders Participate in Energy-Saving Service

Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe recently participated in Home Energy Solutions, an Energize ConnecticutSM in-home energy improvement service provided by Eversource, as a way to increase energy efficiency awareness across the community.

“I’m very pleased with the service and recommend it to all homeowners and renters throughout Westport,” said Marpe. “We are fortunate our residents understand the challenges of sustainability and in turn, seek energy-efficient resources from Eversource and Energize Connecticut. It really is the next step everyone should take to make their home more comfortable and affordable.”

Eversource-authorized contractor, New England Smart Energy, provided the service to Marpe, as well as to the homes of Westport’s Director of Human Services, Elaine Daignault, and Vice-Chair of Westport’s Green Task Force, Pippa Bell Adler.

“With the warm weather just around the corner, these community leaders are leading the way in kick-starting spring cleaning efforts at home. Everyone should put assessing their homes’ energy performance at the top of their ‘to-do’ lists,” said Eversource Energy Efficiency spokesman Enoch Lenge.

Homeowners and renters can save an average of $200 each year through the Home Energy Solutions service and can further reduce their energy costs through additional weatherization measures, including upgrading insulation in walls, basements and attics, repairing or replacing ductwork, and upgrading heating and cooling equipment.

Customers typically pay $149 for the in-home service. However, thanks to a town-wide grant, the first 50 Westport residents to sign up now through June 30, 2018 will receive the service at a discounted cost of $74.

“Transforming your house into a ‘high-performance home’ can help to make it more airtight, comfortable, and cleaner,” said Lenge.  More tips to achieving a high-performance home can also be found on Lenge’s latest blog from Eversource.
