This September marks 10 years since the passing of one of Westport's most beloved neighbors, Paul Newman. Paul Newman started Newman's Own in Westport with a purpose: to give away profits to charity. He also founded the Westport Farmers’ Market in June of 2006 with his friend, Michel Nischan, CEO of Wholesome Wave in Bridgeport.
To celebrate the life of Paul Newman, the public is invited to join Newman's Own Foundation at the Westport Farmers’ Market he so loved Thursday, August 2 and August 16 from 10 – 2 to share your memories of Paul Newman on video.
Many people in the area have been touched by Paul and his generous spirit. This is an opportunity to tell others how much he meant to you.
Lori Cochran-Dougall, executive director of the Westport Farmers’ Market, has been deeply impacted by Paul Newman. Not only is he the founder of one the most vibrant farmers’ markets in the community, she notes “the value Paul Newman gave to the Westport community and beyond is insurmountable. We at WFM are honored to celebrate the heritage of conscientious business and the proof in his example that you can make money, strengthen a local economy, and provide a helping hand all at the same time."
Please stop by the Westport Farmers’ Market on August 2 and again on August 16 to share your memories or stories about Paul Newman. If you can't make it to the market, you are invited to submit stories to social@newmansownfoundation.org.
