Connecticut Press Club to Present Awards to Local Communications Professionals Tomorrow!

Author Jane Green to Emcee May 15th Ceremony in Southport

The Connecticut Press Club announced today that author (and former journalist) Jane Green will emcee their awards night on Wednesday, May 15. Jane is the author of 19 novels, including 17 New York Times Bestsellers. Her cookbook, Good Taste, was published in 2016, and her latest novel, The Friends We Keep, will be available on June 4. Jane is published in more than 25 languages, and she has over 10 million books in print worldwide.

The Connecticut Press Club will salute winners of their Communications Contest with a cocktail party and awards ceremony at Artisan in “The Folly” room, located in the Delamar Hotel in Southport, at 6:30 p.m. The contest is held annually and spans a variety of categories—e.g., specialty articles, speeches, columns, personal opinion, personality profiles, prose/photo essays, poetry, nonfiction books, anthology excerpts, and more. Award recipients, their guests, current and prospective members, and the community at large are invited to attend the event.

The cost is $45 per person, which includes heavy hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary cocktail, plus a cash bar, gift bag, and other treats. Buy tickets here. Walk-ins are welcome and payment will also be taken at the door.

Additionally, club members can tout their businesses, books, etc., via promotional goody bags to be given out at the evening’s end. The Connecticut Press Club is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW), and includes both male and female members. Though inactive in recent years, the club has been relaunched under the leadership of Michele Turk, a Greenwich-based writer/editor and owner of A Bloc of Writers, Inc. The club’s base was once comprised solely of print and broadcast journalists, but now welcomes all types of communicators: writers, editors, bloggers, authors, educators, public relations professionals, media photographers, students, and others. Plans for the coming year include lectures by sought-after speakers, professional development workshops, networking, and social outings.
