Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service (WVEMS) has opened registration for their upcoming Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)course beginning on September 26th, 2018. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible for State Emergency Medical Technician certification and to volunteer on the ambulance.
The local non-profit, founded in 1979, is proud to welcome members of the community into their downtown headquarters for this exciting opportunity to join their EMS family. The Fall of 2017 class had an unheard-of 100% passing rate - an affirming statistic regarding the instruction being offered, the course being known as "one of the best in the State".
No prior experience or knowledge is necessary to take the class - students come from all backgrounds; from high school students to attorneys, teachers, stay-at-home parents, or
retirees. Once certified, they join the ranks of WVEMS' nearly 120 volunteers who protect the lives of Westport residents 24/7.

"This is the most rewarding way to spend a few hours a week - there's no more important task than saving the life of someone in your community," says Board Member and Crew Chief Jaime Bairaktaris.
