KEYS celebrates 15 years of Playing It Forward

KEYS (Kids Empowered by Your Support) recently celebrated its 15-year anniversary at our Annual Benefit at the beautiful Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk.  It was an incredible night filled with music by KEYS students and record-breaking support for our programs by the sellout crowd! Many thanks to our generous community of donors and sponsors in their support of “Playing It Forward”. The proceeds from this event will support our goal to add over 100 students to our roster in the coming year - an outstanding achievement!

KEYS programs include one-to-one instrument and group lessons in Bridgeport by a faculty of over 30 music educators in 24 Bridgeport schools - soon to be more! We have ensembles for chorus, two bands, and an orchestra that rehearses on Saturdays at the Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport, plus many summer camps and other collaborative programs. All of our lessons and instruments are provided free of charge to students.

The funds from the Benefit will be used to continue KEYS’ vision to transform the lives of underserved children through music education. Our students learn life skills such as preparation, patience, collaboration, and respect through the discipline of learning music and their participation in our ensembles. Our KEYS teachers “Play it Forward” by mentoring our students using the power of music to expand their world view and discover new possibilities for their future.

We are extremely grateful to our Host and Benefit committees for creating such a spectacular event! We would like to extend a special thanks to our sponsors: Diserio Martin, HTG Investment Advisors, Inc., John Megrue and the Seabreeze Foundation, GYL Resnick, and Eric & Wendy Blattman for their support.  Very special thanks also go out to John Hair for his wonderful graphic design, to Paul Bickford of LandinoPhoto for photography and to Michael Biondo for videoing our phenomenal student performances!
