Legendary Actor Christopher Plummer, a True Friend to Ridgefield Playhouse, Passes at 91

 

 

Christopher Plummer, the Canadian actor known for his role of Captain von Trapp in the classic film “The Sound of Music” has died. Plummer was 91. 

A resident of Weston, Plummer embraced his local roots and was a guest of The Ridgefield Playhouse on multiple occasions. 

“He was always a great friend to the Playhouse, an incredibly nice guy, who loved the arts and always came when we requested his presence, “ recalls Executive Director, Allison Stockel. 

Lisa Barrett, Ridgefield Playhouse VP of Marketing, recalls, his as being the “consummate gentleman”. When a guest for the Playhouse “Film Society” events, which featured a Q&A after the screenings,  Barrett says, “He didn't rush out, he took his time, perhaps understanding the significance he made in people's lives. It was breathtaking seeing people react to him, just magical.”

According to ABC News, Plummer died at his home with his wife of 53 years by his side.
