Fairfield County’s Community Foundation Has Opened Scholarship Applications for Nearly $1 Million in Available Funding

(Norwalk, CT) Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF) is calling for scholarship applications.  Those eligible include high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students residing in Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Milford, Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull, and Westport. This year, close to $1 million will be awarded.  These awards range from $500 to $7,500 and some of the scholarships are renewable. In 2020, the Community Foundation awarded 489 scholarships amounting to over $1.3 million.  There is an online application at fccfoundation.org; the application deadline is March 22, 2021.

In addition to the numerous scholarships listed at www.fccfoundation.org, the Community Foundation offers a wide selection of scholarships directly through most high schools in Fairfield County. Students and parents are encouraged to visit their high school’s websites or contact their guidance departments for additional information about current Fairfield County’s Community Foundation scholarships available and instructions on how to apply.

With over 150 scholarships from which to choose, students applying to two- and four-year educational institutions and for technical certificate programs may qualify for any number of opportunities.

Two of the available offerings include:

The Employees Tuberculosis and Respiratory Association (Etra) Health Scholarshipavailable to students who are pursuing specialized study in the medical or health fields. Applicants for this award must show a passion for community involvement and a deep interest in continued education with plans to attend a 4-year college or university. Several renewable scholarships will be awarded this year.

The Les Treize Scholarship; available for graduating seniors from a high school in: Bridgeport, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, or Trumbull. Applicants must be African American and must plan to be a full-time student at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university.
