Creativity Connects Westport: Meet Joyce Colburn, Artist, LCSW, Community Advocate

Creativity Connects Westport

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Westport?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Westport?

Creativity connects us.

Meet Joyce Colburn, artist, LCSW, community lover and advocate.

Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?

There are so many great organizations here but I think the League of Women Voters in Westport is exceptional. It is a nonpartisan organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy.

Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?

I’m an artist so everywhere I look I see something of interest. Inspiration and creativity are especially abundant at the beach. We have many miles of coastline on Long Island Sound and there are three town beaches; Compo, Burying Hill, and Old Mill.

What do you love about your community?

I love Main Street with its charm, many restaurants, and great shopping. I also love Longshore (there is the Inn at Longshore in addition to a public 18 hole golf course). There is a unique vibrancy of the people who live in Westport!
