Westport Architect Brown Bag Lunch Series at WHS

Westport Historical Society is looking to the future, and has invited some renowned and far-seeing local architects and developers to help us imagine what our town might become a half-century from now. Talks will be presented every Tuesday through December, starting Oct. 17, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.

They’ve shared their creative visions in the new WHS exhibit, 06880+50, and several of them will be featured in the Westport Architect Brown Bag Lunch Series in October and November. Completing the phrase, “Westport in 50 years…,” each architect or developer brings a thoughtful and unique perspective to the local community and its potential.

Kicking off the series are David A. Waldman, President and Founder of David Adam Realty, and Frederick William Hoag, Principal of FWH Architects. The two are exploring ways to realize the concept, “Westport in 50 years… could re-purpose parking lots into parks: envisioning more green and less asphalt.” David A. Waldman and Frederick William Hoag have worked together on several notable and high-profile development projects in Westport, often combining historic preservation and modern redesign. Among their latest collaborations are Urban Outfitters, the commercial-residential site at 44 Church Lane, the relocation of the historic Kemper Gunn House, and the renovation of the 19th-century Sherwood House into The Spotted Horse Tavern.

Recently recognized by the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce for achieving “great results” in transforming Westport’s downtown, David Waldman is part of the development team behind the new Bedford Square project. He serves as vice president of the Westport Downtown Merchants Association.

With decades of architectural experience, Frederick William Hoag is a well-known and established commercial and residential architect in Fairfield County and far beyond. Among his many recognizable Westport commercial projects are the restaurants Harvest and Little Barn; and retail sites Soleil Toile, Patagonia, and 125 Main Street.
