The second location will be in the prestigious Bedford Square (www.bedfordsquare.com) development in the heart of Westport which features high-end retail stores such as Anthropologie and Williams Sonoma right behind Main Street and Church Street. The salon is aiming to open by February 2018.

Amy Pal, the Ridgefield entrepreneur who successfully introduced and sold two JoyRide spin studios in Ridgefield and Wilton, is Whip’s founder. Pal has her finger on the pulse when it comes to identifying market trends, and believes her salon will resonate with Westporters. “Our goal is to deliver an unparalleled customer experience in our salon. We have a talented, experienced team and their work speaks for itself but it’s really the extras that our guests will notice,” said Pal. “Because so many people in this area have either lived in Manhattan or spent a lot of time there, we want to bring that vibe to Westport.”

Whip’s Ridgefield location is known for its relaxed, hip atmosphere and inviting decor. Romeo + Baglio, the same talented design team that helped create the look and feel of the Ridgefield salon, has been brought on board for the Westport project. The duo also recently interior designed Lucy’s boutique just off Main Street.

The aim of Whip Salon is to create a hassle-free, and high-end experience for people on the go. Clients can visit several times a week, or drop in. To that end, clients can book an appointment with a friend and be sat together and offered a complimentary glass of wine or bubbly. “I almost always go with a friend to get my nails done, why not offer the same convenience for hair appointments?” The 2,000 square foot salon space will feature 19 stations in all, with the ability for clients to easily be sat together to accommodate either friends (called the BFFs Blowout for 2) or moms and daughters the going together (called the Mommy & Me for 2).

Senior Colorist Suzanne Baumann Returns to Westport

Whip Salon is also welcoming back an industry color guru, Senior Colorist Suzanne Baumann. Baumann has been in the industry for nearly 30 years and already brings a loyal following with her. She started out her career in New York City but most recently she worked in top salons in Wilton, Fairfield, and Westport prior to joining Whip in Ridgefield earlier this year.

As the Creative Director of the salon, Suzanne brings her vast expertise to elevate the offering. “Suzanne is a well-known colorist who was previously based in Westport for many years,” said Pal, “Since she has been working in Ridgefield, she’s been drawing people from as far as New York City. She’s looking forward to reconnecting with her clients and will continue to be based in both salons.”


Introducing Master Lash Extension Artist: Cathy Bull

“Lashes and microblading are on the bleeding edge of today’s medispa services, They are the only two services we’ll be offering in our two treatment rooms to start and we have the absolute best in the business,” said Pal.

Cathy Bull is a certified Master Eyelash Extension Artist with over 8 years’ experience. She specializes in unique designs for each individual client, uses only the highest quality products available, and has superior knowledge of medical grade glues including those for sensitive eyes. All lashes are high grade silk, with many different lengths, thickness, and curls in black or brown tones. Clients are able to choose from a “Classic” look (a single silk extension applied one by one to each individual natural lash) or a “Russian Volume Technique” in which multiple eyelash extensions are applied to a single natural lash creating depth, volume and texture.

Introducing Microblading Specialist Carolina Villalon

“Microblading is a trend that is positively blowing up,” said Whip’s founder Amy Pal. “While the trend of eyebrow tattooing has around for about 10 years, microblading is the refined next generation of that. The technique uses tailored equipment creating eyebrows, and since it’s so specific the results are phenomenal.”

Whip Salon has brought in a true microblading expert that has already developed a following in NY, Microblading Specialist Carolina Villalon. Villalon studied microblading in California in the very backyard where the trend first started to explode. “California is way ahead on this trend, it’s been popular there for several years,” said Villalon who studied at the Scar Treatment and Recovery Center in Southern California. “I initially wanted to study tattoo removal. But when I apprenticed with one of the best in the business for all kinds of cosmetic tattooing, my mentor Guadalupe Ponte, I decided to change my focus. Clients’ reactions to microblading just inspired me, and now I am obsessed with eyebrows and microblading.”
